Additional Columbus Blue Jackets Info

Based in Columbus Ohio, the Columbus Blue Jackets were founded in 2000 as an NHL expansion team. The team’s name pays homage to the many Ohioans who served in the Union army during the American Civil War and honors the fact that many of the uniforms worn by that army were actually manufactured in Columbus.

Unfortunately, Columbus Blue Jackets fans had to watch their new home team finish in last place for three consecutive seasons. The team’s fortunes changed however, when they drafted left wing and future All-Star Rick Nash for the 2003–2004 season. Nash’s presence helped the franchise start winning games. Columbus Blue Jackets Ticket Holders finally saw the team qualify for its first postseason showing in the 2008–2009 season.

After the 2012–2013 season, Columbus moved from the Western Conference to the Eastern as part of an NHL realignment—a change that proved to be somewhat lucky for the struggling franchise. Columbus Blue Jackets Ticket Holders saw the team qualify for the play-offs and win two post-season games before ultimately losing its opening series to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The team then went two seasons without qualifying for postseason play before posting a franchise-best 108 points in 2017.

Despite the Columbus Blue Jackets’ struggles, their fans continue to cheer them on at Nationwide Stadium, knowing that it takes time to build great team. Golden Tickets has your access to Nationwide Stadium, where you can join dedicated fans who are proud of their city’s history and their home team.
